The gallery is in a prominent position in Thorpe-le-Soken High Street directly opposite the Olive Branch Brasserie. Thorpe-le-Soken is an attractive, busy village on the Essex-Suffolk border, well worth a short detour from the main road between Colchester and Ipswich on the way up into Suffolk and Norfolk. It is only four or five miles to the coast. In fact, the reed-beds, salt-marshes and creeks of the Walton Backwaters extend to the outskirts of Thorpe itself. Frinton and Walton are delightfully typical small East Anglian seaside towns, with wonderful sandy beaches. To the north is the little riverside town of Manningtree, and a few miles further, the Constable Country villages of Dedham and East Bergholt
